Transcoding
About 155 wordsLess than 1 minute
Description
Online transcoding converts high-bitrate audio files (such as FLAC, DSD) from your server to lower-bitrate formats in real-time, adapting to different network environments and device requirements.
How to Use
- Go to Settings → Audio Quality (or Player settings)
- Select the target transcode format (MP3, AAC, OGG, etc.)
- Set the maximum bitrate (e.g., 128kbps, 320kbps)
- Optionally set a separate bitrate limit for mobile data
Notes
- Transcoding consumes server CPU resources; performance may be affected under high concurrency
- Local network (Wi-Fi) is recommended to use the original format without transcoding
- Set a lower bitrate on mobile data to save bandwidth
- Some formats (such as DSD) may fail during transcoding
- Transcoding capabilities vary by server platform
Use Cases
| Scenario | Recommended Setting |
|---|---|
| Home Wi-Fi | Disable transcoding, play original format |
| Mobile Data | Enable transcoding, 128kbps MP3 |
| Low-spec Server | Disable transcoding, direct stream |
| Hi-Fi Listening | Disable transcoding, play FLAC/DSD |
